Here's my top 5 tips for New York, New York.
1. Avoid cheap hotels. All hotels are nasty but in New York the nasty are expensive. Break off the extra leaves for something half decent. You'll enjoy the sanctuary. I choose to stay at MintHouse, 70 Pine St.
2. Seek out the local Deli. Bonus points if frequented by high-vis wearing construction workers. The busier the better. I take a double macchiato low tide, reuben on rye with pickles on the side. Champs Deli, FiDi.
3. Visit The Met. You'll need 1-day to immerse and 1-day to absorb. If the weather's fine, break the day with a picnic lunch & people watch in Central Park. The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
4. Stroll through Times Square. The energy here on a Friday night needs to be experienced to be believed. Soak it up but watch your valuables. Best enjoyed after a show on Broadway. See what's on at the Barrymore.
5. Eat Street Food. New York serves up some of the tastiest & culturally diverse street food in the world. In the FiDi this is my go-to Sam's Falafel.
